Cotton Quilters' Guild meeting from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

The Cotton Quilters met on our regular first Monday of the month. Since it's October, president Margaret Ducote asked that everyone bring in their fall/Halloween themed quilts. Apparently I'm one in the minority since I have only one of those made years ago. Here are a few of them:

As you can see, everyone has been wonderfully busy. Some of these pieces were made much earlier than the past month, but enjoyed seeing them all the same. As Mrs. Mary said, "You can't see a quilt too many times."

There were some new pieces. Here are ...

Cotton Quilter's Guild September 2020 meeting from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Did you know that you can hover over the picture and the caption appears? Yes, the magic of technology!

How about getting to the CQG meeting's Show and Share before the week is out? A miracle from Mary! I'm actually quite proud of myself. The photos below are quilts, quilt tops, and charity quilts, with the exception of my own shares. I'll tell you about those later. Some things need finishing.

All of the following are WIPs to be sold online via the Cotton Quilters Guild Facebook page. So are tops we worked on during our Sew ...

Cotton Quilters' Guild June 2020--finally a meeting! from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Like everyone else, the members of the Cotton Quilters' Guild have been under quarantine since March. Our last meeting was in February. Then, in March we had our annual sewing room tour. It was wonderful yesterday to see all the happy smiles and the beautiful projects everyone's been working on.

Of course, we had a bit of business to take care of. We've decided that hiring a bus to go to the Gulf States show in Slidell would be too difficult at this point. Many of the people who had planned to help us fill the bus have ...

CQG Sewing Room Tour 2020 from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

The Cotton Quilters' Guild had such a great time last year on our sewing room tour that we put another one together this year. It's an easy event that is great fun.  We went to four homes this time since five was a push last year.

Starting at Mrs. Lee's house, we appreciated the large, open space that she gets to create in. She is a fabulous painter so it's no surprise that her quilts are this pretty.

It was an easy jaunt to Longbridge and Ingrid's place. This little cottage is filled to the brim ...

Cotton Quilters' Guild - February 2020 from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Welcome to the February meeting! We have lots going on. I have no idea how Maggie managed to get all this into one meeting. It was definitely fun! We started off by taking care of the business end of things but soon moved on to our January challenge. Each member got to choose a magazine from a couple of stacks that were passed around. Then we were told to turn to page 44. I'm calling it the Page 44 Challenge. Just because, there doesn't seem to be another title. On page 44 we were to find something that ...

Voila! I figured it out....happily! from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Remember that I went to a Sherri Lynn Wood workshop some time ago?

As you can see from this photo, I was a bit discombobulated by my work. I kept at it, but while there was something I liked, there was more I didn't like. People kept telling me it was good. That was nice, honestly, but I have to be happy from the inside. So I decided to put the whole thing on the design wall when I got home.

On the design board waiting for a plan
There it stayed and stayed. Life kept getting between me ...

Cotton Quilters' Guild January Meeting from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

The Cotton Quilters' Guild meets on the first Monday of each month.

Mrs. Mary showed us how she makes these little catch-all boxes.

Ingrid comes in with beautiful, traditional items every month.

Another stunner by Cleo.

Irma and Mary collect money, take notes, and other official duties. I'll admit, it was enjoyable to sit back and calmly be a member again.

Looking back, preparing to look forward from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

To See Such Fun

We're in a new year it seems, so it's time to look back. I'll look forward in a day or so, but I need time to process last year. So much has happened, two new babies in the family, the loss of Richard's dad, my hospital stay and surgery.

Another Red Feather from Red Is a Neutral challenge

Still, as it turns out, I've been quite busy in my little world.

Busy with what, you might be asking yourself (because I did set myself up for that question ...

December is kicking it! from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

I am not keeping up with my crazy life. Here's a quick catch-up of the happenings since our return from Disney, starting with a fam photo (above) of the one day that we wore our WDW shirts, which I made using the Silhouette and heat press.

Two days after Disney, we held the Cotton Quilter's Guild Christmas party. As Madam President, I was in charge one last time, but Margaret (our incoming pres) was generous enough to take care of the food and details. Thanks, Maggie!

Maggie is on the left here. Thanks girl!

We got back on ...

Cotton Quilters' Guild November Meeting from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

It's November 2019 already and my presidency has come to an end. We'll meet one more time in December for our annual Christmas party, and that's it. We elected new officers who will take over in January. It's been fun and a barrel of laughs but also time consuming. I'll appreciate just showing up at meetings with my quilts.

Pam showed the goodies she bought at
Quilt Fest in Houston. There were several things
along with the Farm Girl Vintage 2 book and fabric.
Mostly I'll try to not run things! That's me ...

Build a Quilt Show -- How to procure judges in 8 easy steps from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

I honestly have no idea how judging is handled for a big guild or international show. I assume there's a process and it's an enormous deal. I didn't need an enormous deal and am grateful because this deal was plenty big enough.

I was in charge of a small, local guild show and managed to bring in some pretty awesome judges. I originally had three, but one had a family issue and couldn't come after all. We went with two. Talk about some awesome ladies.

It's a wonderful thing to know that there are people ...
